First Oil Filter Analysis - I think good...but one mystery....

OK....57K 2002 Boxster S. I've had the car since July and my first hands-on look at the filter. The oil was changed in June and the car has had about 700 miles put on this filter.

Good news....absolutely zero metal flakes. None. I spent 20 minutes carefully reviewing the old filter.

*But*

I found 8 very small (1.5mm or less in diameter/length...6 of the 8 under 1mm) dark brown, translucent bits that basically look and feel like broken ???glass???.

Any ideas? Just really odd.
