Haven't had a chance to check the bolts school and stuff but father is getting the parts from the dealer today (10% over dealer cost discount)

Well at least it's a cheap fix. It's good to use OEM bolts in this case. The last guy probably forgot to final tighten them. Don't forget the loc-tite.

+1 for loc-tite and don't forget to get any grease out of the bolt holes (brake cleaner will work fine).
After your back on the road, plan to check them and retorque after about 500 miles and you should be all set.

come to think some roads that were assumingly smooth felt to be bumpy in the car over the 3 or 4 days before it happened. It would always smooth out though so i just assumed it was a bumpy section in the road. Specifically remember this situation the morning before it happened. I noticed nothing during the drive that the car broke though.
what the car finally gave in to was a quick tap of the gas in first gear pulling away from a red light, which i have had an odd sound comming from the rear of the car before when suddenly applying gas while pulling out of the neighborhood and such when the car was cold... likely linked... jacking the car up tomorrow to get a good look at everything and maybe get started with the repair, still unsure if the bolts are sheered or not yet.
Any suggestions on how to salvage the old CV if the long ends of the bolts are stuck in?

dunno if automatic is the same as manual, but on a manual the bolts pass through the cv and into the transmission flange. cv should be fine, but good opportunity to pull the axle(s?) and service them while in there - boots, grease, bands, inspect the joints themselves.
chances are good the bolts didn't shear. prolly what happened is that the tranny was serviced recently. when pushing the bolts through the cv to thread into the flange they got cv grease on the threads and don't stay torqued. they then fall out a few kms later.

It's usually the driver side because when the car starts forward the twist of the half shaft acts to loosen the bolts. Right side has opposite effect.

2 of six bolts sheered, 2 of six bolts aftermarket... Ahhh correlation, going to pick up the easy out now, going to tourque in the 4 old factory bolts to limp the car to the dealer. will replace the bolts on each side at the dealer and taking the time to get the car on a lift at the dealer to look at everything else as well, maybe an oil change, just a good excuse to get the car on a lift.

1. this is my 100th post!
2.Today has been quite the day, it has taken me from a tow yard in hillbilly hell for easy out, using someone elses id card to get into a Fed Ex distribution center for a drill, and up under a 997 cabrio at the porsche dealer for some spare bolts.
3. but good news is, i got out the two sheered bolts

And the bolts
4.What caused this, when the car was serviced for the PO for a head gasket, the people that serviced the car used 2 aftermarket bolts, said bolt sheered, the Porsche bolts then all worked their way out. Point being for those who are in the Carolinas, avoid Huwe motorsports in Charlotte.
5.What is left to do, in order to get the stupid aftermarket bolts out (the top end) I would either have to remove the half axle, or saw them.... Getting a saw tomorrow, game plan is to use the two bolts taken from the porsche dealer for now so the car can run, Drive the car to the Dealer next weekend, Use the 12 newly ordered bolts to replace both sides, and also get the car on a lift to really inspect the car as a whole, maybe an oil change too.

Glad that worked out! There's a few rent a wrench places here that rent lift time hourly or daily. May use that to pull my trans for shift lever leaks and a clutch.
