Sure you're not Donner or Madmods boy?
Just Teasing Trimer....Mobil One is OEM Recommended, Castrol Syntec 0w-40 at Walmart if available in 5 qt jugs. is a VERY popular choice among members here.
Answers for tires are all over the place, I have had great success with Pirellis on Boxsters and on 911's I like Bridgestone tire but cheaper alternatives are out there........

No really it's a joke. Appreciate the answers though and I will now be an.e to search easily. But in all seriousness my mechanic after doing IMS used Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W/40 Synthetic (Porsche approved list*). Anyone else used or heard of?

Oil seems to be beneficial to engine performance. I suggest you use it.
Tires, though some people find them overrated, help to reduce the vehicle's "rolling resistance".
It's up to you, after all, it's your money.
Just sayin'.......................

I recently switched to Motul 5W/40 from Mobile 1. Very happy with it.

Tony Callas recommended this oil in a recent'ish issue of Excellence Magazine. A reader and Boxster owner was switching from Mobil 1 and was asking about Castrol Edge.
Surprisingly they commended the switch away from Mobil 1 (surprising because Excellence need to get along with Porsche and Porsche need to get along with Mobil 1). Motul 8100 was one of the few oils Excellence felt offered enough ZDDP protection. Less ZDDP according to them, is one of the big culprits in an increase in engine issues that they are seeing in their shops.
In their opinion Mobil 1 and many others have been steadily lowering ZDDP to reduce cost which is probably why you see it on Wal-Mart shelves a lot more today than in the past. If engine oil is getting cheaper, there's usually a a bad reason for it since the price of crude is certainly not going down.

There was a good article on oils in Excellence mag about 4-5 months ago. It stated that Motul 8100.... is a group 5 oil and that it performs better than those of group 4 (which includes Mobile 1) and lower. Group 5 is mfg from plant basestocks... Anyways, your mechanic knows his stuff.
