I did ask the main mechanic (you talk alot about Boxsters in two hours ) if he backed my theroy that the IMS for the 986/987/996 is a Porsche design flaw and that at least 10% of all cars mentioned above will experience an engine failure due to the IMS.
He went further. He said ALL of the engines in these models WILL fail eventually
Sure, it is only a theory, BUT -this guy has replaced three digit IMSīs and rebuilt almost 100 Boxster engines, so he has seen his share of these engines..

Itīs a disgrace that Porsche doesnīt admit the flaw and offer something in return. The same mechanic said he had a guy in with his 987 that had only did 23.000 kms, IMS explotion.... It had done alle services at Porsche Center Oslo (bought the car there also) and got JACK S**T covered. No warranty covered this...
