Madmods, you MUST ensure that your wife does not read the 986Forum otherwise you'll have a "guaranteed non successful ending" ... ha!

The glue and resin smell in new cars is formaldehyde, the same thing they use to preserve dead bodies

I see, you're one of them... I hear Johnny Danger is one of the government's special agents too.

Me no-no agent. I'm only the tech guy mate. I'm the one who at last have to dirty his hands installing IT infrastructure (ip networks, physical infrastructure, etc). Nothing different than any other IT dude with the exception that we needs to 3x ensure standards and satisfy (feed) bureaucracy at its best

an agent huh.... hmmm interesting
Did you manage to catch snowden?

Who cares about Snowden... I'd strip search Anna Chapman if I find him!

a great way to keep a car fresh in storage (if you like the smell of coffee) is to leave a small bowl of ground coffee in it. It absorbs moisture and smells the whole thing up like java, but not obnoxiously so. I did this in my Mini for a month and half and it worked great.

If any of you need to store your boxster for a long time, ask your professional to ventilate the car once and a while. They simply wrapped it up with plastic, heated the thing so it wraps to the exact shape of the car and store it into a controlled environment warehouse.

Thing is.... you need to make sure there is no humidity whatsoever anywhere, before wrapping. If like myself you are in a rush, brain-dead from it, and have to deal with a complete less-than professional storage company, don't forget to tell them to dehumidify your car before they wrap it.

I was so happy to come back home weeks before the wife do so I can enjoy a single-guy life a little To find out that the convertible still smells like Vanilla driving roof down on the expressway at 100mph.
Rent an ozone generator and run it in your Boxster for a few hours with the windows and top closed. Make sure the ventilation ducts are opened.

Turn off the machine and run the car for 5-10 min. with the vent system on re-circulation to allow the ozone to flow through the venting ducts.

I actually purchased an ozone generator off of e-bay for less than $200 for a commercial unit. I use it for all sorts of things around the house and in all of my vehicles.

Research "ozone", then give it a try.

Good-luck.

I always thought a great way to keep the fresh smell of leather in your car would simply be to go to your local reupholstery shop, by a bag of leather scraps, and stuff it under the seats. Crude but could be effective. If you like the smell of new plastics to, go to a junk yard and buy a bent up, late model door panel or something, grind it up and throw it the mix.

Regards, PK
