the boxster 5-and 6-speed transaxles are interchangeable, and the boxster 5-speed transaxle is a repurposed audi 012 unit so I assume complete compatibility (you would have to turn the engine 90 degrees).

regarding intercoolers, I think standard practice on boxsters is to use an air/water unit and repurpose the centre radiator as a heat exchanger for the intercooling. kpaz found on his 400 + hp 4-pot subi conversion that he had more cooling than required, so I assume that the middle rad wouldn't be missed on the 1.8t conversion.
