I also put an identical 1.8t and 5 speed transmission, also tuned to about 200hp. It's a blast to drive.

What are you guys typically getting for fuel mileage with your stock engines? While I haven't actually checked it yet, I seem to be getting great fuel mileage with this 1.8t entgine, I'm guessing around 30mpg or better. I'll check it over my next full tank of fuel.

This is very impressive! I'm usually in the upper 20s in my 2.5. Strangely, highway vs city doesn't seem to make a huge difference for me, nor does driving at high RPMs for longer periods of time.

My 1.8T Golf gets 35-40 hwy and 30ish city.

Reviving an old thread here.

Has anyone else done an engine swap with a VW 1.8t engine? I want to do a project car with an alternative engine that can be pushed to around 300hp. The 1.8t seems like a good fit due to cost, comparability with the 5 speed tranny and performance upgrades. I know one guy in NY did this about a year ago. Any additional info would be appreciated.

Thanks
