Things to look out for on your 986

So, here is whats failed on my 03 Boxster S in 10 years and 70,000 miles:
  1. Top Strap Broke at 60K
  2. Motor Mount at 40K
  3. Ignition Switch at 50K
  4. CV Boots at 50K
  5. AC needed recharge at 50K
  6. Trans mounts seem to be wated now 70K

Im curious what other owners have had

03 S - 42,000ish miles

Convertible tension cable broke - $4 in parts 5 min my labor.
Back of top came unglued from frame - $75 for local shop to "re-glue"


Just had the oil changed and they said the boots have some cracks and will need to be replaced, but not an issue yet.

My headlight switch might be going, but only had the problem once, so am holding my breath.

Other than that, REGULAR MAINTENANCE!!!!!!

1. parking brake switch
2. throttle body
first 70K miles ends here.
3. Coolant tank
4. AOS
5. Starter
6. Alternator
7. Clutch+ Flywheel (IMS/RMS/axle boot servicing time)
8. Shocks
9. control arms
10. MAF
11. O2 sensor
12. water pump
13. catalytic converters
14. rotors
15. ignition switch thing
16. rear plastic window
17. dented wheels/refinishing
18. both remotes died
19. replaced cracked windshield (sekurit)
20. HID bulb.

3 front bumper repaints, 2 rear repaints.

only recently hit 90K miles.
