"Alum-look" side duct strakes

A couple of pics of today's mod...I took my original two-part 2001 side ducts apart and painted the strakes with Rustoleum 7271 and some urethane clear-coat. 7271 was chosen because it is a good match for my factory alum-look interior vent slats, very sparkly. I wanted the strakes to really "pop" against the dark engine ducting.

Doing this was not easy, because if you have ever looked closely at the driver's side intake duct, the bottom two strakes are molded as one piece and connected at the bottom. So to make the bottom two strakes look separate like the others, you have to carefully mask between the two strakes and below the bottom one. I'm really happy with the way these came out. Enjoy!

Super nice! I agree, to make it look right the masking was key!

The aluminum look really gives it exotic flair.

It matches the complexity of your wheels and graphics well. I don't think it would look good on all cars, though. Love your ride, overall!

other trim pieces (window, windwshield, bumperettes) would look nice that color too.

Nice job and they are more outstanding than the stock black. One reason I replaced my '02 vents with '03 is that I think they look better and have a greater opening than earlier ones.
Your overall approach to mods is very tasteful and well thought out. Advantage!
