New stereo - strange cables

I just replaced the original stereo with a new one and found three terminal blocks that I have no idea what they are for. Does anybody know if they are supposed to be connected to anything?

Since my remote key doesn't work that would be my preferred answer

Sincerely
Boxster -99

Thanks for your fast reply!

All three? They weren't connected when I found them, but I had to put them together to get them to fit in the mid console.

Looks like a VW connector, so I'd say CD changer connectivity (which is what VW uses it for primarily), also phone connectivity as well. The stock radio should have a wiring diagram on it and shed light as to what they're used for.

Juicepro and Deserion are both right. The green and blue one go to the factory CD changer and telephone. The yellow is the input to the factory DSP amp. They attach to the radio as a unit. The CD and telephone blocks are pretty worthless for aftermarket use but the amp inputs would be useful if you decide to put an amp into the front trunk. You should find matching inputs behind the carpet in the trunk just behind the battery.

They should plug into your oem stereo to control the cd changer, external amp, and ? cell phone interface.

hi,

on my Boxster, this is a line in connector that plugs your stereo into the Boxster's Haes 40W amplifier.

I bought this cable (google) - CT53-PO01

This cable assembly is over the top and there may be cheaper options.

I chopped off the connector block that I needed from this assembly.

Then I soldered it to some phono plugs.

This can then plug into the line outs of your stereo.

Also to get it to work, I had to wire the amplifier Mute wire (from the stereo) to the connector block. This mute wire 'turns on' the amplifier.

The OEM Porsche stereo manual has pin outs. Also there are some useful pix online and other info.

but if you buy the cable assembly CT53-PO01 or something similar, then you will be 90% of the way there

BTW I fitted a nice double DIN Pioneer satNav stereo AVIC-F940BT

The hardest part was fitting the DIN cage.

Next wiring in that special connector block.

other than that easy.

all the rest of the wires were easy.

I did have to buy a 'porsche antenna adaptor' to plug the aerial lead into the pioneer TMC traffic receiver
