I did debate whether to leave the diffuser area as a matte finish (like my front lip) but I am glad that I had it all painted the same way. It is a great looking part.

I just swapped from the aftermarket LED clear side markers to the OEM "euro" ones that are a smoked clear. I bought some multi-directional LED's to fit in there and they fit nicely. They match the smoked LED tails perfectly.

Side skirts... I have thought about them also. Maybe in the future. Too much in car parts lately with this and the Audi.

Let us all know if the Cayman assembly works well. How much did that assembly cost?

Here is a shot of the front. Now that the part is fit correctly, I am going to put the plastic deflectors for the radiators back in (they will have to be trimmed or the openings will not match well. I don't like the look of most of the "grills" since they all look like they came from Home Depot.

What are the "Plastic deflectors" you are putting back in? I paid 170 for the spoiler like you did. the lift mechanism is another 170, but i don't have a lathe to turn the old ones on like you did. I figure it will be a simple swap.

Isn't there a spoiler kit for the 986 that bolts to the existing lift mechanism?

I also ordered from Precision Porsche. At the time I think they were one of the few sites who offered the 996.2 GT3 side skirts for the Boxster which were not offered by Porsche. And I wasn't crazy about the 996.1 GT3 skirting which was available in factory fit.

When the skirting arrived one side was shorter than the other. Not bad enough to go through the hassle of a truck freight return but a good mm or two gap past the rear wheel fender on the passenger side. But the cost was very low, like barely $300.

Particlewave, I considered that one but I have heard the fiverglass is thin in some areas...plus I think the Cayman one is a bit larger. Cayman R would make it like a whaletail.

now, if you want a 3/4 shot, in the evening light, painted magenta arctic metallic on the third month of butsi's death, with a lengthy description of the fasteners used to hold it in place, then I can't help you ...

Received my Cayman S spoiler today. does yours overhang the tail lights a bit? Did you overcome that just with fine height adjustmants

Okay! Did you use the 987 spoiler mechanism; if so what parts did you use?

I see some sort of added lip at the rear of the spoiler opening.....is that part of your original bumper....oh it is a 2003? Does one need this year bumper to make it work?

Did you have to adjust things like retract stops ? Any difficulties?

It was a direct bolt on using the 987 lift mechanism. I'm not sure if you need the facelift bumper or not.

Rear wing configuration and stability

Yes, it really looks great! I am surprised you are not hitting the tail lights on retract....How on earth did you prevent this? Looks really good. You could have even gone with "the Wing" I linked up below. How does it feel to drive at speed? Any stability changes?

Has anybody got a handle on the effect on aero with the removal of the flat blade?

From the looks of things the blade would reduce the lift created by the back upper surface of the car by outright airflow disruption while creating a fair bit of drag.
But this drag would look to be off set by preventing some "suction" airflow drag behind the car.

The Cayman wing looks to rely on down force from a wing shape than airflow disruption and of course is made to work with the Cayman rear deck.....How would this compare with the Boxster.

Any flow visers out there?

I adjusted it so it sits just above the taillights (there is about a 1mm gap)

I thought about The Wing, maybe someday.

I don't drive fast enough to notice any lift!
