Bumperette removal, Cayman S spoiler, new front bumper

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01/down1369757825.jpg This is NOT a direct swap. I had to take the entire assembly apart and modify the rods and the mounting angles of the rods (which are nice and polished now). I will be showing the other major back end mod later this week (in addition to the diffusers which were installed this week also). But I think that it looks awesome and is all OEM. Cayman spoiler (lower): 987 504 623 00 Cayman spoiler (upper): 987 504 619 01 Oval HD screw (Qty: 7): 999 919 233 07 What does everyone think? |
Holy $hit! That looks great! What year is that 986? Do you have other pics? Will you post a how to?
looks great-how about a side picture? Also, how about a rear shot- I can buy those taillights used right now- had any probs?
I'll get more photos up soon. The LED tails work great. I think that they make the car look much newer (I also have the LED headlight assemblies).
Cheetah- is the engine out of an '05 or newer?
Engine from a 06 Cayman
give me that spoiler!
I've been wondering if this would swap in. It makes the car look awesome. Do you mind doing a write up?
that is for sure the siht - look perfect. here is the lazy-mans option:
1997 2004 Porsche Boxster 986 Turbo Style Rear Wing Spoiler Painted | eBay |
Any more photos? Especially from the rear.
We need a write up...
I don't particularly like spoilers, but I like that one. Very nice work!
Yes it looks great...
I always thought the stock spoiler on the boxster was a 'last minute before midnight' addition to the car because the stock spoiler doesn't do much for style at all (at least not for me), I'm glad its down when its parked :D It would be great to get some more pics from the rear as well. Great job! |
You promised us the other major back end mods.

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369936417.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1369936427.jpg The other rear mod will have pictures taken in a day or so. But here are some additional photos of the spoiler. To install this, it took the following steps: 1. Remove the existing spoiler 2. Take the trunk carpet out and remove the brackets to take the rod assemblies out. 3. Disassemble the rod assemblies and turn the angled face flat in a lathe 4. Drill & tap a new hole in the end of each rod. 5. Turn spacers to fit between the rod and the spoiler (or the spoiler sits to low and doesn't allow the truck to open when it is down) 6. Drill holes to relocate the rod assembly flange mounts 7. Grind the bracket that sits between the rear bumper and the trunk for clearance 8. Test fit multiple times until the spoiler travels up and down smoothly (then lock everything down) 9. Bolt spoiler top to spoiler bottom with OEM screws 10. Check your truck release cable to make sure that it is not worn (to avoid being locked out of the trunk at a future time since it this is a too common problem). 11. Enjoy. This is not too hard, just took some time looking at it and playing around until it fit right. I really like the look of it and am happy that I did it. Once I started cutting the rods, I was in all the way! If it didn't work, I would have been looking in the classifieds for new rod assemblies. |
Doesn't seem too hard, for the amazing results. This is such a cool mod. Do you have any pics of the whole car, with it on? Curious how it flows with the lines.
Thanks...yes, whole car pics!
A profile shot with the spoiler up and down would be great. Looks fantastic.
Entire car from the side.
