Awesome car but rumor is that the 918 is selling slowly. Problem seems to be a glut of supercars that will do 0-6 in roughly 3 sec's and around 200mph top speed. Been there, done that... what else do you have? Also, there seems to be hesitation about the investment value of a $845K hybrid. Oh, and the worldwide recession can't be helping any either. But I'm sure that sales will pick up once the cars start hitting the road.

People with that kind of bank want McLaren or La La La Ferrari.

The McLaren is going to be out of this world. I would hate to be the guy that picks up his new insanely expensive 918 only to see Road&Track post some ridonkulus McLaren P1 numbers.
That car is going to be closest thing to F1 car for the road that we've ever seen. And it looks a million times more exotic.

Nothing wrong with the economy...those special edition Aventadors going for $3+million a piece are already spoken for. They are issuing 3 of them I believe.

My understanding is that the entire limited La Ferrari production run is already sold. You just don't waltz into a Ferrari dealer and plunk down your $1M+ and expect to get one. It's invitation only.

Between the McLaren and the Porsche, I would bet that the overall road manners of the Porsche would be more "driver-friendly".

Pity is that these three supecars most likely will never experience many driving miles. Not counting the trips up and down the Barrett-Jackson auction ramps.

So the mark is there...Think anyone can build a 986 or possibly Cayman that can beat the 1M+ cars (for under 100K)???

You guys are not seeing the big picture. The 918 is a hybrid! In say a 1,000 years you'll make your money back in the gas money you save.

The current McLaren is known as one of the most docile legit sports cars ever produced. Nothing like driving a GT3. A car that can easily be a daily driver. Theres one professional baseball player that blogs about driving his everywhere in LA.
Once the prices come down to $~200k there will not be a better bargain on a cost to produce/cost to buy.

And the guy in the Prius next to you will give you the thumbs up! Finally (after spending $845,000), you'll be perceived as part of the solution, not the problem!
