The ZF Tiptronic is basically a five speed automatic with a manual override that allows the driver to select different forward gears. It should shift smoothly, like a modernday transmission. As mentioned, it may upshift sooner than desired at the discretion of the transmission.

My one suggestion is to have the ATF drained, drop the pan, replace the filter, and refill the transmission correctly with the appropriate fluid. This will ensure the health and longevity of your transmission.
