There is another poll underway asking about Base vs. S model ownership but it's not specific to model year.

This is really interesting. 2001 seems to dominate.

I have both an 08 and 02 but I can only vote once and voted as 2008.

Since this is a 986 forum, where are the 987 owners go. Rennlist & 6speedonline don't have much activity and Planet 9 do have some Boxster activity but focused more on Caymans.

Well being the generous type and knowing you like the color of mine I'm willing to trade and relieve you of the embarrassment of having the newest Boxster. But only because you've already switched to clear side markets.

I KNEW those side markers would pay off one day!

Simple. Boxster Sales were highest in 2001. Look at the sales for the first year Boxster for trivia. Interesting.....

Great post! More than twice as many were made in 01 than in 04! They really seemed to peak out.

Awesome chart on sales. Any chance an up-to-date version with 987-era sales could be had as well? My google searches haven't turned up anything like this.

TIA

Blimey. Didn't know Boxster sales ever got that high. Nearly 30k in one year.

Suspect even with the new 981 out they aren't anywhere near that high currently.

Think the 911 has been generally on the slide the last three or four years, too.

Sales of the sports car models are, I suspect, in slow long term decline. The big growth markets (China! etc) don't go for sports cars.

How does a VIN tell you that? Which digits are they?

The last 6 digits should be the sequence for that year.
