Funny you should suggest that. When I first picked up the GT3 bumper I also ordered the factory 996 GT2 inlet which is similar to what you have on yours.
I ended up never installing it.
Probably because it took me a year to get around to installing the actual bumper after it arrived!
But as you can see below it matches the width of the Boxster hood perfectly.

My Hamann front bumper has the vent already designed in it. Unfortunately, since it's not a removable piece - there's no real way to paint it. I wish there was because I like the contrast it gives by having the vent black.

Eh, that vent is not my taste, PL i think yours looks better without it but thats just me lol. guess im on to find a gt3! JD thanks for the links

You could take it to an expert clear bra type and see if they can wrap the vent in a high grade carbon fiber wrap like the kind they use on this Scuderia.

If you don't like it you can just peel it off. I think if you did the mirrors too it would balance out nicely.
I was thinking of doing the clamshell and the backs and sides of my GT3 seats. I did a vinyl wrap of a kitchen counter top in a faux granite so I could probably give it a shot. All you need is a heat gun, one of those xacto type blades from Lowe's, some rubbery squeege tools and lots of time.

Cool video. But, I'd be willing to bet that trying to wrap a vent with strakes would be near impossible.

They might have to remove the bumper, maybe, but those guys have methods for every type duct, inlet and opening.
I'm guessing to make it simple they would cut one piece for the rectangular perimeter, leaving the slats exposed. Then they would wrap each slat with an individually measured piece and heat shrink it with some silicon adhesive drops, and then finish by covering the perimeter area to "frame it".
