You could take it to an expert clear bra type and see if they can wrap the vent in a high grade carbon fiber wrap like the kind they use on this Scuderia.

If you don't like it you can just peel it off. I think if you did the mirrors too it would balance out nicely.
I was thinking of doing the clamshell and the backs and sides of my GT3 seats. I did a vinyl wrap of a kitchen counter top in a faux granite so I could probably give it a shot. All you need is a heat gun, one of those xacto type blades from Lowe's, some rubbery squeege tools and lots of time.
