carfax & porsche terminology

i was reviewing the car fax report on my 02S and noticed at right around 60,000 miles the car was at a porsche dealer where "recommended maintenance" was performed and "engine/powertrain computer/module checked" i know the actual work performed varies specific to the car and im assuming there was an oil/filter change as well as air/cabin filter change, but what else is typically checked/changed at this interval? im really just interested in the spark plugs mostly i have no idea if they have been changed

just checked my maintainence book in my owners manual and it does say change spark plugs at 60,000 the actual hand written records in the book stop at the 30,000 service so i will just have to pull a plug and inspect.

If you're unsure the plugs were changed just put a new set in (cheap enough item to replace); besides IMO they should be changed way before 60K... but thats just my view!

You should call the dealer and ask for details of the maintenance. They should be able to answer.

I can understand them not revealing anything about the previous owner/s. But they should discuss what has and not been performed on that car.

I called the service manager where my car was purchased new and serviced since then. He gladly shared a whole lot with me.

My '00S came from a dealer and they gave me a whole print out of everything that had ever been done. Furthermore the carfax report for my car states that the plugs were changed at 35k. So if it was done at a dealer it should show up on the carfax.

i guess it depends on the people at each dealer, while i was there for my PPI the guy didnt want to be bothered with questions about previous service but he was sure to ask me if i wanted to leave it there for just about anything he could think of.

You should elevate it to their management. The worse case scenario is they say no. Either way, let them justify to you why they cannot provide this information. Lots of dealers thrive on word of mouth...if they start getting labled as not customer friendly, they lose business.

Obtaining service history from dealers is hit and miss, depending entirely on the dealer. My local dealer wouldn't give me any info when I bought my car. But its worth trying, the worst they can say is no.

The 60K major service includes replacement of the oil, oil filter, engine air filter, cabin air filter, fuel filter, and spark plugs. Everything else is checked/inspected.

Bentley says the plugs should be changed every 30k miles or 4 years. That's probably a good rule of thumb IMHO. It's easy enough to do and not very costly.
