Secondary Air Injection Pump DIY

I'm reasonably sure my secondary air injection pump went out. I was having the signature whine that would come on at cold starts and would run for a couple of minutes. Very recently that whine went away completely. I have a CEL 1411 as well. Has anyone changed this pump out themselves? I'd appreciate a picture/description of where it is in the engine bay, and the difficulty of the project... These things seem to be insanely expensive to have a mechanic change, so I was hoping to DIY it.

It's an 01 S, btw. And I'm in North America, so I should have this pump installed (I think European cars don't have one?). Thanks for your help!
