Secondary Air Injection Pump DIY

I'm reasonably sure my secondary air injection pump went out. I was having the signature whine that would come on at cold starts and would run for a couple of minutes. Very recently that whine went away completely. I have a CEL 1411 as well. Has anyone changed this pump out themselves? I'd appreciate a picture/description of where it is in the engine bay, and the difficulty of the project... These things seem to be insanely expensive to have a mechanic change, so I was hoping to DIY it.

It's an 01 S, btw. And I'm in North America, so I should have this pump installed (I think European cars don't have one?). Thanks for your help!

Awesome! That is exactly what I was looking for. Any associated relays or parts I should be looking at?

To bad the pump went on you.
At the Whine stage you can take the pump apart, grease the Sealed Bearing (OH NO) on the pump shaft and all will be well.
Still working for me after a year

There are (3) Rubber Bonded vibration fittings (Part #3). You may find some that may have broken
I Found (1) that was broken. Its held together by a hose clamp right now.
I order (3) @ $9 each but then I was told by supplier they would now be $27 each. I cancelled order on principal

If you take off could you measure diameter and thickness of rubber part and the stud lengths

Grainger sells for $2.70 each

I'm not sure where the rubbing isolation fittings are. Looks like #3 is one, and #22 is another, where is the last one?

For a quick laugh I would check the prices of the secondary air injection pumps on Pelican Parts:

There are (3) of #3s each roughly 120 degrees around the unit.
Those 3 fasteners are what fasten the pump to the bracket.
Remove the one hose on top and the electrical plug and off she comes. Very simple

That's something else.
For that kind of money, the "Genuine Porsche" part comes with lube, right?

Just did the change. On the electrical connector there appears to be 3 wires coming out. Two of them connects to the pump. The last one is hanging loose. Anyone have any idea where that should be going?

EDIT: The wire hanging out is orange. I connected the yellow wire to ground successfully.

It's Genuine Porsche...the Genuine Porsche Lube is bought separately for another $1000 . Funny enough, the original (I'm assuming) pump on my car was a Bosch part, no "Genuine Porsche" stickers on it :P

I have those same cell's I know my pump works because I can hear it. It has a pretty high pitched whine could this be a problem or is it normal.

The whine is normal as it should sound like a cheap vacuum cleaner for a couple of minutes.

I know there is a vacuum leak from the hose going from the intake to the brake booster but I am not sure if this is causing the fault codes.
