Heres a reality check. Put everything obvious back to stock including mufler took 2 evenings in all. Best trade in offer was $10,000 lowest $6500. I'm almost sick.

I hear you loud and clear. My 2002 BMW X5 was $55,000 brand new and it was worth $11,000 in 2010 when I sold it. My wife's 2002 BMW 325i was $38K new and now is worth about $6K or equal to the price of a 2007 Toyota Yaris. After those experiences, I bought my Boxster used for $10K and let someone else take the depreciation hit. I'll never buy a new luxury car again. Sure, I might never be able to own a car that sold in limited numbers or a classic model like a 993 Turbo but those 996 prices are dropping like snow at a ski resort.
