I almost hit a cat the other day. I had to swerve across three lanes of traffic but the little bugger managed to get away.

Glad to hear it wasn't a moose or deer, and it was just a coyote. Never in my life could I imagine coyotes in CA, but then again I've only been to LA and Anaheim.

I "ran over" a coyote with a .223 just last night!
We have German Shepherds and live on a ranch in the country. The varmints were trying to get my dogs' food. So, while PETA may be upset, if they do not like it THEY can feed the coyotes. We get a lot of them! Normally we just scare them off but they seem to be getting more confrontational now.
Good to see MOST of J-Mobile survived. Good reason to tell the wife you need to upgrade! Wasn't there a GT3 bumper for sale here recently? Maybe it was good luck for you J-man! (I would type out your name but cannot get the "a" thingy to work for me). Where is that key on my keyboard?
At least you were not injured "doing the speed limit"…ahhh yeah!

Yup Coyotes out my way as well in Socal. I like the nightly howl chorus.
Cougars as well eat hikers/cyclers every now and then out this way.....the 4 legged kind mostly.
I guess Wiley Coyote was not so Wiley this time.
Bumper upgrade time.....wooo hooo!

Off to see the claims adjuster… I will see if OEM bumper or if I have a choice of aftermarket.

if you're on a mac, just hold down the option (alt) key, the modifier key and then the letter you want. so for jäger's ä, option+u (for umlaut), then a. also works for ë, ï, ö, ü, ÿ
the other characters are:
tilde = option+n
circumflex = option+i
acute = option+e
grave = option+`
on a mac, alt+0 just gets the degrees symbol (451º)
now back to your regularly scheduled posts...

There is a little more to this story… The area I work is a huge animal reserve (not related to the work I do) and the wildlife population is huge. I go to work at 6:00 AM, that’s before sunrise this time of year, so I had no time to react when the coyote became visible as it ran in front of my headlights. Also, the central coast of California can be very foggy in the morning; you cannot relax while driving in the fog while it's dark and I find it somewhat stressful especially with all the wildlife in this area. On Monday I counted 11 deer along the road between two work locations and that was in the middle of the day (approximately noon). Yes, many deer get hit even though the speed limits are 35MPH and 45MPH along different segments of road. I have avoided hitting many deer due to the superior handling of the Boxster (knock on wood) but fellow coworkers have had serious damage to their vehicles. There are stories where the deer have run into the side of vehicles and entered through the side windows!!

First of all thank you for wishing me luck. Secondly, what is the name of your phorum? Yes, please provide a hyperlink, I am curious to see some your stories (this looks like a JD covert operation with PETA).

Update
Update... New bumper is getting painted today. I decided to go with the OEM bumper, not to mod the Jägermobile too much.
As I mentioned in a previous post there is a large wildlife population where I work. One of my offices is located in a single level building with the front portion of the building administrative, the middle is high bay, and the back of the building being a stockroom. This morning after attending a meeting I returned to my office and found a ceiling tile lying on my desk (suspended ceiling). I looked up and there was a raccoon staring-down at me with his head down below ceiling level. Needless to say it didn’t hang around too long. Later this afternoon there were four raccoons playing like kittens in the stockroom and employees were just going-on with business as usual. As I was leaving for the day some of our technicians were setting-up traps… again. I will have to be extra careful with the Jägermobile when I get it back so I don’t run-over one of these guys in the parking lot.
