Mind you, I got a dent in the right rear door of the beemer at Home Depot and some idiot key'd the beemer this
fall while in the parking lot of a nice restaurant...(that sad story cost me 700 bux) but it doesnt seem to matter
where you go, there's always an idiot waiting to make your day!

Turns out... nowhere!
I recently the first new dent in 4 years in the door. Of course it bothers me. However I enjoy driving it far more than parking it. The hood is mostly comprised of stone chips at this point. And recently with city driving I have parallel parked between cars with 6" to spare (too dark to take a photo).
Of course I also spend a solid weekend every 6 mo. or so to pamper and upkeep the appearance. I try to chase after everything that is degrading and keep the mechanical parts as solid as possible.

That's a big "yep"!
I try to avoid anywhere but my garage...but that's not always feasible.

Markets of any kind were the gatherers abound.
I always look for the most remote out of the way spot possible when I have too because women have all kinds of paint damaging apparel on their person or gear and do unintended damage everywhere they go.
Friggen walking, talking, riders of the apocalypse with their bags, baskets and gathering implements as they waddle and squeeze their way through places they are too vain to admit they wont fit and too lazy to go around.
Yes, I too have been victimized by the paint scouring broom riding witches.
That's why Porsche drivers should always prefer the skinniest model types that don't take up much space and fit easily where ever you put them and don't like carrying stuff because it makes them look fat
JDanger knows what he's talking about!!!

I once parked my Boxster all the way in the back of the parking lot at Wal-Mart. It was at least 10 parking spaces away from the closest car.
When I came out of Wal-Mart, a big Van was parked next to my car, almost blocking the car completely from my view from the front of the parking lot.

I've parked in many a place. No worries. End spots, far away, are key. Not a huge fan of over-night parking at hotels on the occasional multi-day road trip, though.

+1 Wal-mart. I parked waaaay out in the lot one time only to come out and find a minivan full of kids unloading 3 feet from my car.
Why?

Since it was my first year it was never parked out of sight, I have seen the "people who go out of their way to negate you parking far away" syndrome as well, I don't understand it but I see a lot of it. My favorite place was actually a weekly car show with all kinds of other rides where everyone was a freak about being careful around each other's cars.

that drives me nuts. i swear i can find an empty lot, and by the time i come back there are a couple of cars around.
about the only place i won't park is next to a minivan or a big truck with monster mud tires.
