Now if we can get all our friends to pronounce the car's name properly (porsh-ah) we'll be right as rain. I still feel compelled to correct my wife from time to time.

My father says "Porsha" sounds snobby lol. Ever heard of this?

I say "PORSH-uh" but I don't correct people if they anglicize the pronunciation.

Any more than I would expect an English speaker to say "folks-vahgen".

From what I understand, even the "correct" anglicized pronounciation sounds "off" to a German.

The correct pronunciation is Porsch - e ,with a short 'e' at the end, not an uh.

incidently, a bit of useless trivia, my uncle went to school with two of Ferry Porsche's sons, in Stuttgart. Well, that was part of the justification I used to my wife ...........

I heard the show "friends" had a episode on the pronounciation of Porsche. I wonder why 99% of Americans say it incorrectly?

I am bumping this old thread back up because a very helpful forum member PM'ed me with the suggestion that I had miss-spelled the color of my car in my signature.

As terrible of a speller that I am...I actually got it right!
