Thanks for the information on the o-rings.

It turned out the expansion valve and not the evaporator was leaking. I replaced the expansion valve last week. I started to hear symptoms of low refrigerant again and a black light inspection showed dye all over the front of the new valve. I'm thinking the local A/C either didn't tighten the face plate enough or used the wrong o-ring size.

I see the A/C shop tomorrow.
