Congrats Alex! I remember doing this job. Old tank out without much of an issue. I fought with the New tank connections for hours before getting things buttoned up. I would have dreaded having to do it again! The 996 had the tank and WP done about a year ago so I should be go to go!

Replaced broken Upper Dipstick Tube. Removing the J-Tube helps with access.
I thought the trunk end "clipped" into the dipstick hole, but actually, you put tension on it when the rubber grommet is positioned in the firewall.

Replaced trunk lock actuator. The old one was acting wonky; It would pull the lock open, but on subsequent presses of the fob, it would not move all the way, then moved less and less. If I let it cool off, it would work.
Got a pre-owned part for $26 shipped. Better than $100. Works like a champ.
My car has the Aero Kit, so the latch is different than some pics I've seen...

Didn't have an 11mm, and the nut was spinning...

Removed the cover

Allen screws

I just bought dash and door speakers and an amp from Crutchfield today to upgrade the audio.

Recently replaced the front rotors and made this DIY. https://youtu.be/2UpNTa90k2U

I got my car back from the shop, again, after the clutch hydraulic failure. It turns out the hydraulic line burst/broke while I was driving. The shop replaced the line with a new one, but the connections are now different at the slave cylinder... so I have a new one of those as well. The repairs didn't take long, but they left some air in the system, I believe, so the clutch wasn't engaging or disengaging in the right position (way too low). I took it back in and they flushed the system. Now it feels right again. Alles gut.

Replace my 11/12 dated battery. Pep Boys has 25% off batteries if you buy online and pick up in store.

I finally got around to cleaning all the goo off the two knobs of my CDR 23 radio with denatured alcohol. The power/volume button wasn't too bad since I use it more often, but they both needed it. Now they are clean and look great!

I also installed the Track Addict app on my iPhone, bought a 10 ft iPhone lightning cable, a Veepeak OBD II BLE Scanner and some additional RAM Mount hardware. I can now mount my iPhone on my Brey-Krause rollbar extension and take videos at HPDE's. I made a test video driving around my neighborhood and it came out pretty good. The Veepeak was easy to link to the iPhone and to Track Addict. Track Addict intuits what gear you are in for the display and it has options to adjust it up and down, I'm still tweaking that to see what works best. Using the camera on the front of the iPhone the vibration from the motion stability is eliminated. It's not high tech but for less than $100 for everything I can make some simple track videos and I'm happy. I went with Track Addict rather than Harry's Lap Timer as it was cheaper and from my research it seemed Track Addict was easier to use the GPS outside of racetracks, so I can use it at autocrosses if I do any of those.

The Veepeak also works as an OBD scanner and can supposedly clear codes with an OBD scanner app that I installed on my phone. I;ll leave the code investigation and clearing to my shop though!

Finally got to the Porsche dealership and had my new key fob programmed for my car. New key fob cost me $155.53 and programming it cost me $153.27 for a cost of $308.80 in total.

I spent the day driving at Watkins Glen, the first day of three. There is a lot to learn here, lots more changes in n elevation than the other tracks I have driven.

I’ve only driven the Glen on x-box! Haha. Some good elevation changes at Tremblant though. I should check out Watkins Glen, there’s a number of guys from Rennsport who go down. It’s not really that far.

replaced broken button on key-fob. Ah, the luxury of unlocking the car before betting to it.

Replaced broken brass retaining nuts for the roof latch with steel rivet nuts. Pretty easy, though I didn't get all of the old pieces out. Now I can put the top up again, hope I don't have annoying rattling going on...

I would prefer the name PORSCHE on the back....Let the people know what it is. I have the PORSCHE template with the proper curve is interested....Here's what mine looks like. Purchased the Letters which are the same as the Panamera and painted them the same color and the Boxster S emblem.....Had a lot of comments on the site.

Just finished installing new rotors and pads, flushed the brakes and clutch, took advantage of having the wheels off to give them a proper cleaning and wax, wheels look new

Good job! Got any pics?

I'm a DIYer for a lot of things, but putting on a new top makes me uneasy.
