Hardtop is awesome! I would love to find one locally to use to make a mold for a carbon fiber one and then make one. I need one to put on for track days I plan to do next year.

The change to my LEDs I posted a week or so ago was done in practice for changing the LEDs in a never installed 996 cluster I got from eBay a few months ago.

Over the last days I finished the LEDs, got the new cluster programmed and coded, and swapped in to replace my recently color changed 986 cluster.

Absolutely love the 996 cluster and the pics don’t do the blue justice.

As a side, I now have a LED color changed, low mile gen 2 986 cluster that needs a new home.

I purchased a 996 surround also from eBay and painted it and the steering column cover Seal Gray to match my console.

Accepted the return of Fall and the PNW rainy season by re-installing my hardtop.

Feels like a different car with the hardtop on. On my first drive with the hardtop re-installed I had two different people ask "what kind of car is that?" obviously not Porsche people.
One was a woman who thought the car was "cute", that really hurt....

I heard a middle aged woman saying ‘look cute little car’ to her family as walking by... at least my top was up so I pretended I never heard it.

My hardtop will be on the car in a few weeks too, along with dedicated snow tires. Yes, as much as I like top-down open driving, I also like secure, quieter and warmer feel of hardtop in cold weather... not mentioning its looks with round roof line true to inspiration from 550. I’m gonna take out the soft top assembly to replace rear plastic window over this winter. I may take the motor/ transmissions out too and go manual to save weight and ensure Boxster chop as routine process on new vinyl next summer.

Worked out treadwear warranty to replace back tires, 45K warranty Michelin PSAS3 worn out in less than 2 years/ 15K but I drive like I’m stealing the car... will enjoy a few more weeks of spirited driving before mounting snow tires.

Changed oil while the car was up on jacks to replace rear tires, easy access. Used a brand new plastic oil filter housing replacing the original. It came with an OEM filter and it costed almost the same as only an aftermarket filter. Gutted the old filter and no metallic or plastic debris on pleats so I’d sleep better.

Oh not today but also put a lightweight Deka battery, saving 13 lbs. Hope it works through Michigan winter.

Wow! Your cluster looks amazing. How much are selling the other cluster for?
