Smile What did you do with/to your Boxster today?

Added about 3/4ths of a gallon of coolant. No leaks so no idea why it needed it but, noticed the coolant light blinking on my way to work this morning so, checked and hey, the tank is empty... Also gave her a bath

A mystery like that would bug me and I would have to know WHY the coolant was gone from the tank.

Did you have the car in for service recently?

Perhaps your coolant tank has a crack, its a very common occurrence on our Boxsters as the plastic ages and becomes more brittle.

Check for wet carpet in the trunk near the tank or a puddle by the rear passenger side tire under the car.

Left the Boxster in the garage and drove the minivan to work. Later on today I will clean up a caliper I scrapped paint off when mounting wheel. Sand and then touch up paint, add decal and clear again.

Nope, no recent service. Bought the car in July and she's been garaged most of that time since. Coolant tank is solid, no yellowing and no leaks in the trunk. Likely the PO didn't take good care as there are no service records at all after the original owner bought the car in January of 2002. Has the new cap, no liquid in the trunk. My guess, is that I'm the first to drive her like a Porsche. I expect to have to replace the water pump and other items before too long. My Truck has gone through 2 water pumps, a transmission and suspension so, I expect to be dealing with all of those in the coming year or so. She's my weekend driver so, not a lot of road time with me.

Since she's new to you could be anything - it the coolant keeps disappearing mysteriously check for a little white smoke at start up with hint of coolant aroma. My coolant was leaking through a cracked head.

I'm keeping an eye on that. I suspect, it was air in the system since the previous owners, 5 of them, didn't keep any records. Filled the tank a week ago and lost nothing since, no leaks no smoke. I do expect to be replacing the starter soon though, occasionally get the gear whine on cold starts... When I do that, I'll be replacing water pump, thermostat and serpentine belt.
