My 2000 has the silver badge. I assumed that a previous owner changed it to better match the yellow exterior. That's awesome if it's a sort of special feature for the year.

Instrument cluster
a few weeks ago I was cleaning my 02 and changing the oil, getting it ready for a long winters nap. As I was wiping down the dash area the cloth caught the knob that adjusts the dimmer of the console lights and snapped the stem that goes into the cluster. You can imagine my reaction.
I was able to locate the guy in Canada who has manufactured a replacement part, with a search on this forum and others. I also was able to locate a used cluster for sale at a reasonable price. So for the price of two stems from Canada, I purchased the used cluster. This way I could practice on taking one apart, before I did mine.
I stayed home from work today and decided to see what these things look like inside. With patience and going slow, and following steps posted online I was surprised at how simple it was to take it apart.
This is one of the pieces that broke. You have to split the cluster to replace as they install from the back side of the face.
I also decided to take one of the face dials off, I used a plastic picnic fork inserted under the indicator and with a small flat bladed screwdriver popped the dial off using gentle pressure.
The tricky part was the small plastic retaining piece that inserts into the hole and holds the face dial in place, see object to the right of the dial. I did this with a small screwdriver form underneath the dial, gently prying it up. As you can see a small piece of the edge did break off, the material is very brittle. I think it will still do the job it was intended for and cosmetically will be under the indicator needle when reinstalled.
So now I wonder if anyone has painted the face dials or changed them to a different color. One project leads to another. My car is speed yellow and adding a bit of color to a black interior would be nice.

Bought a play mate for FunToy
I would swear I already posted this, but I don't see it anywhere in the thread.
Bought a playmate for the Boxster. They both speak German. 2009 Mercedes Benz CLK 350 convertible.

I bought some LED lights off eBay to stick on my 98 Box. They definitely make my car look a lot more modern than it is

Hi Jake
Pretty sure I have read this somewhere, typically cannot now find a definitive reference, sorry.

While I was changing the oil on my winter car (07 BMW 328xi coupe) I started up my 2004 Boxster S and let it run for a bit, was a balmy 37 degrees - almost considered taking it for a drive.

Hauled this box from Suncoast delivered by UPS down to the basement before anyone else in the family saw it. UPS said it weighs 69 lbs, if so, it was the heaviest 69 lbs I'e ever carried. Oh, it is the Boxster S ROW M030 suspension kit that I will have installed soon!

Will do. Need to get a date for my Indy to put everything on. After reading threads about Ben006's intake plenum, 75 mm throttle body, 987 air filter, and discussing with my Indy, I've decided to just upgrade the suspension a bit and do some more HPDE events with the power I have and learn to drive better! I am going to add a deeper sump for a little more peace of mind, and the under drive pulley, on the theory that it will be good for my power steering pump!

It was 20° F today, so naturally, I decided to do a full detail, wash, clay, wax, leather, carpet, etc. I had to setup two heaters to keep me (and the wax) from freezing, and I only tripped the circuit breaker once!

Used My Christmas Present!!
I used the Durametric I got from Santa to activate my OBC.
At first it showed it was active, but did not display correctly (at all) on the instrument cluster.
I remember reading somewhere on here that someone had the same issue that was resolved after the the battery was disconnected then re-connected.
I tried the same fix.
Worked like a charm.
I also checked for any uncleared codes.......Came up as clean as a whistle!!

Well after 13 years of accident free ownership I had a little fender bender last night, didn't come to a stop quite fast enough and tapped the rear bumper of the car in front of me last night. I was paying full attention at the time, and my antilock brakes came on hard but I just was not quick enough this time. His Ford Fusion didn't look too bad, and in the dark of night my Boxster looked like it just needed a new bumper cover. But after getting home I saw that my hood was slightly crooked, my headlight was pushed back and my fender got crimped by the headlight. Monday was my appointment to have my ROW M030 suspension installed, but now it will start with an estimate for the repair, the repair and then the suspension upgrade! I'm glad it wasn't any worse, and no one was hurt.
