Installed TuneRS shifter safety clips on the tranny end of the shifter cables. The bushings were a little warn and had gotten a little sloppy. These clips have made the shifter feel tighter and more precise, along with the renewal of the cable ends at the shifter itself the whole thing feels new.

Getting the factory clips off was the most difficult part of the job. Not a lot of room in there to work. I removed the heat shield and that helped but it is still tight.

Very worthwhile project.

Might regret it but I replaced German engineered Bosch starter (which turned a bit slow and didn't release quick enough so it made a horrible screeching noise) with $75 Ebay Chinese special. On the outside, the Chinese starter looked great. Only thing noticed was slightly smaller diameter power cable from relay to motor.

I read posts where people suggest greasing the old starter but there is no way to get grease into the bendix gear assembly where it is really needed on the Bosch design without breaking the starter. It is a crimp sealed design.

Car now starts faster and doesn't make embarrassing scary sounds.

Job was much easier by accessing lower starter bolt from front access panel with 4 extensions pieced together.

Scariest part was somehow I blew radio fuse in process and when replacing I lost backup camera signal. Messing with wires it magically fixed itself.

I should have cut those brackets off. I thought they would line up. Maybe next time.
I got rid of all the rattling while I was under there. I think the car actually ended up quieter without the secondary cats.

Put in a new air/oil separator and secondary air air pump. Now working on replacing the passenger side camshaft position sensor if I can find the darn thing.

Yesterday I put new front brake discs and rotors on my '03 S. I went with ATE zinc coated discs and Textar pads. I used new caliper bolts but the existing clips and Phillips screws on the discs were fine and I re-used them. Also re-used the wear indicators since the pads had not worn into them. I also cleaned the calipers and touched up a couple of chips on them using some VHT caliper red spray paint that I sprayed onto some cardboard and then used a touchup brush.

I hadn't changed a set of brakes in almost 40 years. The only thing that threw me for a loop was the things glued to the pads that have "pistons" that go within the caliper pistons. But since I was removing the calipers I figured it out!

I was going to buy the Zimmerman discs but Pelican had the ATE discs for 10% off and the price was a bit less to start, so I went with them. The only thing I wasn't expecting was that the disc surfaces were also zinc coated, I expect that will just wear off as the pads bed in. The Textar pads had the same Textar part number on as the original Brembo pads I removed. I got 61,500 miles out of the car's original front pads and rotors. the rears are still going strong. I could have gotten a few more miles out of the fronts, but I'm doing my second DE at Palmer in 4 weeks and needed the new pads for that!

Took out the litronic headlights I picked up recently and using my Harbor freight DA polisher and some Mothers headlight polish got the headlights looking far better. Now I just need to pick up some clear corners w/o the washers.

986ohana just remember to keep your speed down (below 30 mph I think). Your back has no speed limiter and above the limit air resistance can bend your top frame!

Today was one of the 10 best days of the year weather-wise so I did my 60 mile commute with the top down the whole way!

Today I took the axle nuts off my parts car ( 986 ). Six sided 1 1/4 1/2 inch drive and long pipe. Tight but easier then I feared. I want to put CV joints on them and use them on my 01 S. The par ts car is a 98. Are they the same?

Compact, powered sub installed under the passenger seat. Found one that fits perfectly with zero loss of passenger foot room. (Kenwood KSC-sw11). Also added some rear speakers - 4 JL 3.5's - amazing the difference they make.

While not audiophile quality - really makes a nice sound on those long, straight drives. Then in the curves you can turn it down and listen to her purr!

While not strictly what I did to my Boxster today , I went to visit Woody and have a look at his Boxster graveyard . Truly a site to behold and he took me for a spin in his 3.4 , I didn't know they went so well , I baby mine too much , when I get home it's going to be driven more . The time he spent with me and my family is really appreciated , Woody is a real gentleman , many thanks Woody .

Well, it was on Saturday, but I removed the CDR 220 from my '00 S, and installed an Alpine CDE-149BT. Can play music from my iPhone via Bluetooth, make and receive calls hands free, use my phone to navigate, and more.
