I suppose the reason they want it on the back of the car is to confirm that you have a valid permit that they can check easily while patrolling the parking lot. Ask the security people if you can put it on the windshield and park with the front of the car facing out so they can see the sticker. Tell them why you want to do this and how much a new plastic window costs. All they want is to easily confirm that you have a sticker without having to get out and walk around to the front of your car. It never hurts to ask.
If that doesn't work for them, then I would get some thin clear plastic sheet and put the sticker on that. Tape it to the rear window with some tape that has easily to remove adhesive. Most tape adhesives are easily removed with mineral spirits (paint thinner). Do not use lacquer thinner, acetone, or ketone, or you will need a new rear window. Unless you know how aggressive the adhesive is on the sticker, I wouldn't put it directly on the plastic window. It is too easy to damage it because of the softness of the plastic.
I just had another idea. Tell them that putting it on the windshield and parking with the front of the car facing out is better. If you put it on the rear window and park with the top down, they wouldn't be able to see it.

Here in Chicago, everywhere you can buy city stickers also sells a film you can apply the sticker to, which is easily removable. I wish I could recall the brand name, but its a non-permanent mounting film for window stickers so you don't need a razor blade to remove them. Works quite well, and I imagine it would work well on the rear vinyl, too.

back in and hang it on the mirror. do not stick it anywhere on your car. you could end up with a permanent reminder of a temp requirement. study hard !!! good luck.

Back in the day, I had the same problem when I was driving a Fiat 124 Spyder. I used a strip of galvanized sheet metal from the hardware store 2" wide, and 2.5" longer than the height of my license plate. I drilled and bolted this strip under the plate, allowing the extra 3" to extend below. I adhered the sticker to this tab. This should also work on the Boxster, I would think.

OK my friend, this is what you do.
first you buy one of these:

Flexible Magnetic Sheet 4x12 inch for magnetizing bumper stickers, material film | eBay
you put the sticker on it, cut it to the size of the sticker, and that's it.
you get to school, you stick it to the back of the car. you leave school, you put it in the glove compartment (that you don't have ... but you get the point).

I would use a pair of rare earth magnets, aka neodymium magnets. One with a sticker on it, the other on the other side of the window. Should be good to go top up or down. Might actually be strong enough to hold it to the bumper, even.

They work great; easy on; easy off; supposedly restickable to some degree (although I just leave them on for a year at a time, they are always still sticky when I do that)

They peel right off when you don't need it anymore. I have never tried them on vinyl, but they are considerably less sticky than the permit stickers themselves, so I imagine it would come off just as easily. For a few bucks, it's worth a test -- they come 2 to a pack.

The only issue I can see with a removable parking tag mount is that some, ahem, shady students like to steal valid passes due to the cost of campus parking.

I like the idea of mounting it to the plate with an attachment. Use security screws, of course.
