I have a fairly new on I use occasionally on my Boxster. The directions said to spread it out on a layer of newspaper for a couple of days before use to let the excess paraffin come out of the fibers. I did that, it left oily spots on the newspaper, but I still got a couple of smears when I first started using it.

I only use it when the car is just slightly dusty. I very gently run it over the car to pick up the dust. I can imagine it scratching the paint if someone tried to cheat and give their car a washjob by scrubbing with one.
