Something new everyday
 

Everyday I find something new out about this car...I swear it is almost like a woman, yet not as cranky. You think you have them figured out and something else strange pops up. Any hooters, driving down the road the other day and had to go through a water puddle. It broke my heart, but there was no way around it. As I was CREEPING very slowly through the puddle and noticed a cloud of water mist blowing through the air and covering my car is a nice oily mess. The cloud o' mist was coming from my front wheel wells and I couldn't figure out why. When I got to work I left the car running and got out to see what the problem might be and much to my surprise was the amount of air coming from the front wheel wells. I had no idea the blowers were that powerful...it was almost like a leaf blower. Will wonders never cease....

Yes...in most cars you can just roll through a big dirt spot or dusty contruction area of a road. But not in the Box.

Have you ridden over dust and seen the cloud it makes.

It billows out from under you like you are in a hover.

Exactly. The blowers put up clouds of dust - which creates a problem: I wash the car, back it into the garage - at which point it's dusted. Can't wax it with dust on it...

Same problem. Hey, be careful with Ophelia out there.

I recommend the California Duster for just this type of problem!

Good idea...I usually take her out and try to "blow" the dust off of her, but I think I create so much static electricity it doesn't come off. Oh well, it was fun trying while burning really really expensive gas.

My California duster seems to leave lots of oily residue when it was new, and now doesn't do that great of a job. Others have said these put microscratches in the paint. I wonder how many Boxster owners here use them between washes.

I have a fairly new on I use occasionally on my Boxster. The directions said to spread it out on a layer of newspaper for a couple of days before use to let the excess paraffin come out of the fibers. I did that, it left oily spots on the newspaper, but I still got a couple of smears when I first started using it.

I only use it when the car is just slightly dusty. I very gently run it over the car to pick up the dust. I can imagine it scratching the paint if someone tried to cheat and give their car a washjob by scrubbing with one. :eek:
