As long as you're within +/- 0.5 quart you're still okay...? Hard to see how someone can overfill it... if it takes 9 quart put in say 8 3/4 qt since there'll be oil after draining the oil pan...?

The 986 dip stick is not exactly easy to read compare to say one from Toyota. I use the electric gauge and don't check the dip stick after an oil change.
