I have had rude comments like,
"Brat"
"Is that your boyfriend's?"
So I guess I am on the other side of the fence. You know just because you see a girl driving a nice car it doesn't mean her parents bought it for her or it's her boyfriends. Dealer said I'd get lots of guys in that car, made me chuckle.

It would have been great if you said "even if that comes true, I'd have to give a lot of rides to approach the level of screwing established by the Porsche dealer network".

Not an insult or as dumb you think, fiat has a sports car I saw years ago that looks just like a 986 and preceded the 986. They also had one that looked like a NSX / Lotus cross with a 16 valve, twin cam turbo. Don't forget that Fiat owns Lancia and Ferrari, if they wanted to they could bring some kick ass sports cars here, no knowing whether they will.

I don't recall any Fiats that resembled the Boxster. Yes, they produced the Fiat X/19 - a transverse mid-engine roadster with a fixed sail/rolbar and a lift-off fiberglass roof panel. Although pretty enough, it was very angular in appearance and it lacked power (a single overhead cam 4 cylinder/transaxle from the Fiat 128).
Yes, they also produced the Lancia Montecarlo (aka Lancia Beta Montecarlo or Lancia Scorpian in the USA) and this was code-named the Fiat X/20 during development. It too was angular in appearance with fixed sails/rollbar and a lift-off roof and was not much more powerful, making use of the Fiat 124 twin-cam but with additional weight.
Lancia also produced, in rather limited numbers. the Stratos - another mid-engine sports car that was also quite angular, but which had comparable (if not superior) peformance to the Boxster as it had the benefit of the same V6 engine as the Ferrari Dino.
As indicated, if they made a production, mid-engine sports car which resembled but pre-dated the Boxster, I certainly don't remember it.

You don't recall it because they only sold them in Europe which is likely why I can't find it. Rest assured the Germans took some 986 styling cues for Italy too or vise versa, the Zagado I saw predated the Boxter by at least two years. They made many cars that never saw our shores. Did you think I was hallucinating Brad? I know their US model line better than any person on this BB they never brought a 16valve twin cam to our shores, this was a turbo version of said engine.
This might be a modern version of the coupe, the mid nineties convertible was a dead ringer for the 986

Her ride was a whooped Subaru Outback Wagon with a serious vacuum leak. Every time she revved her engine, it sounded like the blow off valve was on it's last leg.
Confused, I thought this trashy girl was asking me how much it cost.... I hesitated.....she said, "what's the dash say the car will do?"
When I told her the speedometer read up to 175mph, she looked down and said "you'd beat me".
She asked "you want to race?"
I turned this d!psh!it down because it was a sketchy part of road where cops do actually monitor. I told her, some other day.

I worked for a Fiat garage in the 80s and have owned/autocrossed a lot of 128s and X 1/9s.
BTW Fiat also owns Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep. Fiat Viper anyone?
