Metal flakes in oil.

Hi,

I dropped my car of yesterday to have the oil changed and have an IMS guardian installed. The service manager sent me an e-mail today and informed me that there are metal chunks in the oil filter and housing. My mind went right to the IMS bearing failing. They are suggesting that they remove the clutch and flywheel and inspect the IMS and go from there.

Here is my question: Are there any other likely causes to the metal chunks in the oil filter? I am kinda amazed. If the IMS is going out, I got really lucky.

Thanks,

Reed
