You can do either, depending on the distance the spray gun is held from the surface. With this particular color, my cousin painted his Acura TL from about 14 - 16" which resulted in a rougher, more matte-finished appearance. He then stripped that off and repainted from about 6" which resulted in a very smooth, almost satin look.

My wheels were painted at about 6" and have a smooth, uniform appearance. I'm absolutely pleased with the result, doesn't look cheap or "rattle-can" like.

Looking Good. You should consider Plastidipping the front grills in the bumper.

If you don't like it, you can always peel it off.

That's on the list now, noticed that needed to be done in this picture! I should be able to do that with just a can.
