New Boxster S owner from SF bay area

Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself and say that I love this forum which I've been searching and reading for the past week or two and it's been very helpful! I've previously owned a 1986 944 na and four 968's and have recently been looking for a replacement since selling my 968 m030 last fall. I drove a couple of 911's but didn't fall in love with any of the examples I found so yesterday I picked up a 2002 Speed Yellow Boxster S with black interior, 81k miles, all factory-suggested maintenance performed and the following options:

Heated sports seats with factory painted Speed Yellow backs
Rollover bars, center console, and seats belts in Speed Yellow
PSM
Cruise control
CDR220
18" wheels

I found the car at an independent dealer, inspected and test drove in person, then had a PPI performed at the local Porsche dealer who pointed out a couple of minor things that I plan to take care of anyway. I ordered a Capristo system on Friday and hope to install next week along with new clutch + flywheel, RMS, IMS retrofit, AOS, water pump, and change oil, clutch/brake fluid, coolant and adjust e-brake so hopefully this dose of preventive maintenance will allow me to fully enjoy the Boxster for a long time to come!

Trevor,
No way.... Welcome to the Boxster world. I kept my 951s and added two Boxster S. 911's didn't win my heart either.

Welcome!

I love the seats and all the subtle extras (ie carbon fiber and aluminum pieces) make the interior look amazing.

Welcome aboard! Love those seats! Sounds like you are putting some peace of mind maintenance into the car...should be able to drive it like hell and on long trips without a worry.

Efren, wow, awesome! I didn't know you had a Boxster. Looking forward to meeting up again sometime, hopefully for drives this summer when it's nice. Thanks everyone for the welcome!

Mike, I paid $14.9k but after tax/title/reg/insurance and the maintenance items I just mentioned it'll be closer to $20k before I'm happy. Can't find a better car under $40k IMO!

Babblers does have several gatherings throughout the year. Just had one a few weeks ago. http://www.babblers.org/forums/showthread.php?p=62119#poststop

Next planned event is the Boxster Brunch on 4/2 at Alices. If the weather is good they normally go for a drive.

Thanks for pointing me to the Babblers site, I didn't know about it. SF bay area drives with fellow Boxster owners sounds like a lot of fun! I'll try my best to make the April 2nd drive, hope to see you guys there.

I can't believe someone posted a picture of a (beautiful) yellow Boxster and it took JD a year to comment.
