Black ribbon on your Porsche Crest

Show your respect for Ferdinand Porsche by placing a black ribbon on your Porsche crest until the Porsche Parade in July as a sign of respect for Ferdinand Porsche.

I've decided to change my avatars on this site and my FB page as well as a couple of other social networks I frequent as well since I don't take my car out of the garage often enough for it to be seen.

Here's a jpg if you want to snag it and use it as your avatar as well...

I would like to do this, but I don't want to use electrical tape. Anyone have an idea how the best way is to go about this?

I'm going to use a small piece of tape doubled over with a ribbon stuck to it. Goo gone will take off any residue.

I guess you could unscrew the crest from the backside of the hood and wrap a black ribbon around it and screw it back down. That would probably be the best because it won't blow off at speed.

I didn't realize that they screw off. I will need to work on this over the weekend.

Be careful. I think the crest has screws and not rivets!

hood crest is attached w/ speed nuts... 8mm IIRC.. don't over tighten when reinstalling as you can easily strip the posts.

Good luck

Can't imagine a black ribbon will stay on my crests during one on my sunny weekend 320 miles blasts, but I'll give it a try! RIP Dr. Porsche.

Garage
takes all of 5 minutes...

"With the recent news of the passing of the father of the 911 and 904, PCA members will honor F.A. Porsche by displaying a black ribbon across the Porsche logo on their cherished vehicles. They will maintain this display until the 2012 Porsche Parade in July. At Parade, PCA members will celebrate the iconic cars which have evolved from Mr. Porsche original designs."

People who know nothing about Porsche are likely to interpret that a number of ways. This is just my opinion but I worked beside people at the hospital that spent the bulk of their lives giving everything they had inside them to make someone else's tougher life a bit easier; they all died without fanfare, so I don't see the need. Additionally, the company would have to acknowledge, return correspondence or otherwise render customer service to people who got screwed on the M96 disaster for me to remotely give a tenth of a _ _ _ _.

He can't help himself Frodo. Then again, I can't help myself either!!!

I will put it on out of respect for the man not for the M96 fiasco or company that won't acknowledge the problem.

I noticed the ALMS Porsches were wearing a black slash across the hood in honor of Butzi...wouldn't stand out on my black car. We'll see how many are following the crest honor come our big Memorial weekend at Road America this spring...likely only the diehards.
