Photo of my suspension with questions...

So I took the rear wheels off to try and find out why my car clunks over bumps at slow speeds. This photo is showing my rear control arm. First question, am I supposed to be able to see through this part, or is this bushing shot? Second, what part is the control arm connect to? A frame?
I'm just trying to figure out what I need to fix this. Not sure a new rear control arm has all of the parts I'm looking at here.
Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Looks to me like you need new control arm bushings! Yay!!! Never done one on a boxster, but on my old car you have to press them out, or rip and tear, and press the new one in.

(Or just buy a control arm with it pre-mounted lol)

EDIT: Also, Try prying on the wheel back and forth for play. If it is as bad as it looks, you should get a decent amount of movement around the bushing itself. And generally, when it comes to suspension, play=bad/worn. lol

I'm just not sure if a new control arm comes with that while bushing part. It almost looks like the A frame has the bad bushing...

So, at the risk of repeating myself repeating myself, Vertex.

They make the ball joint replaceable, so when the ball joint fails, you don't need to replace the entire arm.

I do not think it's the ball joint, its the bushing next to it. I cropped it here in this photo. I don't think this part can be replaced? I think the whole arm does. I'm just trying to find out from some of you guys before I order... I do see a ball joint replacement in your link (and thank you) but it's not the part that is in the photo below...

The bushing is definitely your problem. I'm just saying that it's nice to have the replaceable ball joint because those do go out too. So you eventually could be looking at replacing the whole arm again for another worn out part in the future.

It's a real pain to replace the bushing, but if your feeling industrious, Powerflex does make a replacement bushing, for $93 for both sides.

What year is your car? Looks like 98~03 use the same part.
I have a used arm from an 02 if you are interested.
It's a good part from a car that was parted out due to a bad engine.

BMX - I would take him up on this. If you decide not to then PM me, I'll give you several places. I've replaced several suspension components recently.
