Everyone talks about the 911 and with good reason but for my money his greatest design was the 904. Its a breath-taking looking car. And not knowing the time tables of the designs of other cars like it but if I am wrong on this I will admit it. Seems like the Ford GT takes its looks from the 904, doesn't it ?

He did a pretty good job on the VW type 1 design...20,000,000+ sold over 4 decades...sounds like solid engineering to me.

Yes, I agree, the 904 was really the most brilliant design and its obvious how the 904 morphed into all of the later racing icons (906, 907, 908, 910 and 917).
