Has the flywheel been checked? The dual mass flywheel can get out of round somehow and cause the vibration between ~28K-32K rpm, mostly when the engine is coming down. It's something you may want to look into so the new crank is not being vibrated back to its' previous condition.

Btw, take it to a local Porsche only specialist and pay him an hour's labor to look everything over in the drive train to engine area. The dealers will wear you out with the "we don't feel anything" deal so you eventually give up. If you can take something in writing from a Porsche specialist with many years experience it will help them "feel the problem".

Update on my situation:

After attempts to have the car fixed, I told the dealer I wanted the rattles fixed or a letter on Porsche letterhead stating the rattles are a feature, not a flaw.

It took a week, but the 2050 rpm rattle seems to be fixed. They stated they replaced the oil piston. I put 300 miles on since I picked up the car (3 days ago) and have had no rattle at 2050 rpm.

On the issue of the 3K rpm, the one that sounds like a heat shield, supposedly there is a bullitin (or recall) of the washers holding on the exhaust.

Again, I have no rattles at 3K rpm after the dealer had the car for a week.

So in summary:

I am happy the car is not rattling. I am unhappy with the Porsche response.

If anyone wants more specific details, send me a PM.

Happy to hear it's fixed...

I have a rattle in the dash that happens only when cold and only between 2600-2900 RPM. It's starting to drive me nuts. Last time it was at the dealer they could not replicate it- so they said it was "normal." After reading all of these posts, I'm worried that they might be correct- in so much as it occurs in far too Boxsters

vibration in the gas pedal

I have a really irritating vibration through my gas pedal noticed at most speeds - of course, more notable at higher speeds/rpms. I've never felt this in any other car and it definitely doesn't feel like a tire balance issue (no steering wheel vibration). It does remind me a little bit like the vibration I used to feel in my hands and wrists while riding my CBR600F4.

The vibration is so bad that it actually begins to feel like a stinging sensation in my foot and leg. Is this anything like what any of you have experienced with your vehicles?

This is my first Porsche (hopefully of many to come) and a long time in the making and I'm a bit terrified of it being a flawed or having to endure a terrible experience with PCNA.

Thoughts????

I haven't noticed anything through the pedal, sorry.

However, my car's going to the dealer tomorrow for a few little things, namely I want them to try to fix the remaining few squeeks and rattles in my convertible top. It rattles a lot when it's up.

The dash rattle I had from the gauges has disappeared on its own finally, I dont' know how but I'm happy.

My hand brake now squeaks really bad when it's near the bottom of its arc. I'm thinking that they can just oil that.

Other than that, the car's pretty good! One thing--they put the washers on my exhaust and that got rid of most of that vibration/rattle/shaking sound I heard around 2100 RPMs but I still hear it quite clearly when the engine is ice cold. Hmm...
