Hi Josh,

Just a guess but it 'may' be that the Alpine has a low frequency crossover network in it that allows only very low frequencies to pass to the door speakers. These would be frequencies that are too low for the door speakers to replicate. I am guessing that what you DO hear out of them are the higher bass freqs. that the Alpine is sending to them, and you only hear whet they can reproduce.

Again just a guess, not etched in stone.
