Clutch Smell

I just replaced my clutch 200 Miles ago, and every time I put my car in the garage and exit the car, i can smell the clutch (i hope it is the clutch smell). It is more intense near the engine compartment duct. Do new clutches smell that way, or is something else wrong?

Yes, I have found that certain clutches make different smells. I never caught a whiff of anything from my stock clutch but my new Sachs sport clutch makes a very acrid smell if I slip it too much.

Garage
Did you replace the flywheel? If not did you deglaze the old flywheel?

Hi there,

I had my clutch and flywheel replaced by Porsche mid last year. I remember being worried about the burning clutch smell on the replaced clutch. They told we that it's normal to smell the clutch for the first 400 to 500 km.

As they suggested the smell did go away, first clutch lasted 130000km, hope this one lasts a while

Since they had to remove the Tyranny...I would check and see if you may have an axle seal leaking. When it does, it leaks down on the exhaust and the smell is very peculiar, plus they could have gotten oil on the exhaust when doing the clutch job. Should go away after about 500 miles. After a 1000 miles and it still smells, I would return to the installer and ask why.
