Should I go with 245 front and 275 rear or...?

Hello Gang,

I'm currently running 19" SSR with 245 on the front and 275 in the back.

I'm going to be purchasing 18" OZ Alleggerita HLT for weight savings. I also got tired of repairing my 19" SSRs every few month from the put holes we got all over San Francisco.

I'll be going with Hankook Ventus V12 tires. The suggested sizes, naturally are

225/40ZR18 XL front
265/35ZR18 XL back.

The quesitons, should I go with 245 for the front and 275 for the back like I have done with my 19"?

I think 245/285 is what The Tire Rack recommends for those. That's what I'll be getting on my wheels that are the same size as what you're going with. Unless I hear a compelling argument for 275s, that is.

Will 285 fit in the back on the OZ's without rubbing on hard cornering?

My preference has always been 235's up front and 275's in the rear for "street" . In the past, I found that 245's up front "tracked" a bit too much for my liking .

I run 255's in front on OZ Allegeritas and they work great.

I planned on putting 255's all the way around for race tires and running a huge front sway bar to eat the immense over steer :P GT3 swaybar?? Eh, Eh??

245/275 will work but it is a lotta meat for the street. It just depends on your goals.

That maybe fine for a race application . However, I would never opt for those sizes for street performance .

It depends on your goals. Are you primarily concerned with appearance ( which is fine) or cornering grip and balance? Do you have any other means of adjusting the balance, such as bars/alignment. If cost was not a major issue, I would go with the largest fitment, and balance that with antiroll bar adjustments. Say 245/275 or 255/285. I just went to 245/265 to reduce under steer without having to buy antiroll bars, or use an aggressive alignment. I'd say the minimum would be 235/265 like the factory 987 fitment.

Oh yeah, my car "tracked" with the factory 235's, the 245's don't seem to have made much difference.
