CDR-220 : AUX for iPhone
 

Hi,

Is there an AUX cable (or something) that I could connect my CDR-220 to my iPhone ?

I would prefer not to use a radio frequency transmitter.

Try iwirep. I use it for ipod. But it won't charge a latest gen ipod or iphone.

Yes there is. See the pics of my CDR 220 with the AUX cable. I just sold my head unit recently and kept the pics. You should be able to google it to find the part.

Terry, I was too quick to reply to the forum. My pics were for a generic AUX device and not iphone. (I should have read the iphone part).

This really does help, that is one of the options but I would prefer the charger one. Did you have to earth the cable too ... or just plug in ?

Beware of those cables sold on eBay . They're really not designed to work with the Becker radio. They will shunt power to your devise and consequently destroy it ! Ask me how I know ? :mad:

there are essentially 3 options that i think are worth exploring when you want to hook your iPhone to the factory radio without using an FM transmitter:

1. becker: they sell an iphone/ipod cable. $$$

2. iWireP: they sell one with the 30-pin dock connector. add in the scosche adapter to output sound. it WILL charge / output from older generation ipods (no adapter needed) but with newer ipods and iphones you need the scosche adapter. check the website / send an e-mail for compatibility.

3. audio output from headphone jack. lots of companies make these (iWireP has one of these as well for "generic" devices). obviously no charging

i went with #2 and my older generation ipod - both the nano and classic work fine to output audio and charge.

says for the Becker CDR-220, whereas the other says it's for the Blaupunkt units...

They don't specify on their website if this fits the CDR-220, but they do specialize in Becker, so maybe. Send them an email or give them a call.

Just installed the cable ... works great! Thank you.

Installed quick, worked straight out. Hardest part was removing the radio with those tiny removal tools (I think mine are made out of tin).

Terry, did you have to disconnect the battery or the radio or did you just pull it out
leaving it connected and plug in the adapter ?

Also, did you have to ground the adapter ?

I've never pulled the radio out. Is it attached via a cable or does it just attach to
a plug ? Looking at GreenHeckler's photo tells me it just connects to a port/plug ?

Hi,

I just pulled it out using those special tools (remember to place screwdrivers through the holes of the tools when you get purchase and pull on the screwdrivers, using your fingers alone will be quite painful).
I did not ground it, although it is suggested that you disconnect the battery.. I didn't do it and it worked just fine.
All you need to do is plug it in at the back, and feed the connector to the front.
Also, you will need to 'activate' AUX on your radio by pressing the TP button for a few seconds and selecting AUX to ON from the menu.

Shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

I just installed the iP-BKR2 iPod adapter in my 2001 S. Could not have been simpler. I debated getting a new HU but in the end, I didn't find anything that caught my eye and I do like the look of having the stock CDR-220 there. Music sounds great and the cable charges my iPhone 4S with no issues. Right now I have the cable routed out the PAX side of the console but I plan on locating it in a storage shelf that I have on order which will replace the CD holder.

I picked up on this old thread with the plug in the back of the Becker CDR 220 that you then use the 3.5 m jack to plug into my iPod/iPhone. Easy enough and cheap but when I hit the S (Source) button to switch to AUX the choices I have are FM1, CD, and Magazine. No AUX. I figure okay let's try Magazine which was for the old CD player. What is odd is that Magazine does not hold and it reverts back to FM1 or CD depending what the unit is currently on. Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone have any insight? Thanks in advance.
