Telescoping steering column will not stay locked.

Hi

On my 2003 Boxster s, I wanted to adjust the steering column. I pushed the lever down, which was quite hard, and adjusted it out. I then locked the lever up. However the column will not stay put, it is hard to move, but under braking or accel it can move out or in.

Is this a common problem, I cannot find any posts about it. What am I doing wrong? I have pushed up very hard on the lock lever, and unlocked and relocked several times to no avail.

Thanks

Ashley

Ashley,
you may have to remove the plastic cover and tight the nut that is at the other end of the lever, it's pretty simple (once you can see the nut)
.

It hasn't been common with the two I've owned. Try, if you haven't, slightly pushing on the steering wheel while pushing up on the locking lever.
