Trunk won't open with remote

Hi, I just bought a 2001 Boxster and everything works great... the only problem I have is the rear trunk won't open with the remote... it does open from the inside though.
I do have 2 keys, but only got one with the car. Both don't work.
I'm hoping it is a fuse or something
Any suggestions ?
Thanks
TerryT

I forgot to mention that there was an aftermarket spoiler on the back that I removed, could the extra weight have burnt out something ?

Check and see if the catch is releasing...open the trunk and try the remote while looking at the catch. It is operated by little solenoid. Go here and see diagram.

is it [trunk area] making a sound at all? If so, typical issue is the wire snapped at the crimping point w/ the eyelet. If no sound, then it's likely either the solenoid, key button, or key & alarm unit not communicating properly.

Let us know if it makes a sound back there when pressing key or not.

Good luck

Often a fob goes out - partially or entirely. Does the button for the frunk work? Your motor seems to be working because your electronic switch on the sill works so it's not that. I would get my fobs working properly (at least one of them) which might mean taking them to a dealership and having one rebuilt (new guts) or purchase a new one and having it programmed.

Silly question, but do these fobs need occasional battery replacements?

Mine is an 02, and it is intermittently working with the fobs...no issues with inside the car switch.

Hi,

There is no sound in the trunk when I press the button. The red light on the dash does flash through but the trunk does not open.

I got one key with the car and got a new one from the dealership. Both aren't able to open the trunk.

Thanks
Terry

Where is the solenoid situated, is it part of the lock mechanism ? I can't seem to find reference of it on the diagram.

Same Problem

Hi, I have the same issue. In my 2003 S the trunk release button inside the car (left of the driver seat) does open the trunk no problem. The remote will not open it. The remote opens the car doors and the front hood, just not the trunk.
