Rear Fog Lights

Do the rear fog lights work on separate sides like the parking lights or both sides together? My right brake blub blew and I pulled the fog bulb to replace. Later I put in a new one for the fog and it doesn't light up. Tried different bulbs. Left works but right doesn't. No corrosion or wires or leads, fuse is ok and all other bulbs are working. Not that I desperately need the rear ones but wondering if something is wrong.

Drivers side only, that is - left on LHD cars, right on RHD cars. This is described in the owner's manual.

Since I don't have the owner's manual I was confused. Thanks for the replies.

Guess I'm mistaken. I thought I saw both sides come on when I first used that switch about four months ago.

I have OCD, and really want all the bulbs on my cars to function. Before my owner's manual arrived, I spent some time with continuity tester and such trying to fix the passenger side rear fog. It DID come with a bulb in place. I've read reasons why just the one side, but don't quite get it. I drive along the Ohio river on the way to work @ 5:00 AM occasional very heavy fog. Would prefer 2 rear fogs. Am tempted to rig it.

I thought i saw both come on one time. But could have been dreaming. Dont understand why one side. If i am in the middle lane of a three lane hiway in fog i definitely would want both to work. Guess its rigging time!

If you do that other drivers won't be able to tell when you step on the brakes, hense ONE light only.

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one perplexed by this several years back. Spent an hour or so screwing around pulling out rear tail light assemblies only to find out the following day only one side should be working.

Talk about timing on this thread...I just noticed the exact same thing last night and was worried I had blown a bulb.

Don't worry, be happy. The designers were very wise using one rear fog light, and one fog light only. It is very easy to overthink this.
