Panamera
I know that this is outside the 986 discussion, but I just got back from a trip and saw a completely Carbon Fibered covered Panamera. I actuality I thought that they made a good looking car ugly. It looked more like a HotRodders primer colored Rod than than a classy ride. JMHO, Ed

If you think that the full carbon fiber treatment is bad, wait until someone paints it flat black. After that, someone will create one with the full chrome treatment.
Bad taste is a long, slippery slope!

Plus it is just a carbon fiber sheet on a sticker and not actually carbon fiber construction, now if they wanted to make a real carbon fiber body for a Panamera, that would look cool like the Audi R18 before they painted it.

carbon fiber paint
I saw a similar painted Audi coupe and a new Mercedes C-class coupe with the same treatment carbon fiber .My wife thinks they look awesome .It does give them a mean look.It is probably not for everybody but it is a daring statement and I kind of like it.

Ok, the Big-Bad-Mama-Tama of a spoiler notwithstanding, this is how you do right by a car when it comes to carbon fiber...actually make everything out of carbon fiber.

Oh yea, and adding another 150+ horses doesn't hurt, either, though I must say I'd expect to achieve a lot more than a 200lb reduction in weight from a car as hefty as an SLS by going all CF with the body.

I'm sure they could do a treatment to give it that typically blue denim look to the weave if you wanted, blue200s.

Thank you, Blue2000s, for visually confirming my worries! Oh man, that gold thing is horrible.

The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport had a sort of dark blue hue to its carbon fiber, and I believe Bugatti, ever ready to add to the price tag, gave people the option of choosing a color to apply to their carbon fiber body before it got clear-coated, so it's happened before.
I'm not a big fan of the CF fad, but when it actually has a purpose, like a track car, I'm all for it. On the street I'd be too worried about even getting a rock chip on my bumper, and I don't like to drive like that, because then I don't like driving.

Funny you should mention that! I have photos on my blackberry from a trip to Vienna in May where I took a few snaps of a tuned up Panamera in flat black. Will try and upload them tomorrow.
Looked different I guess...

The one I saw was in Prague. I guess in Eastern Europe ostentatious display of bad taste is in.
